NBC Welcomes Raneir Pollard to be our 2012 blogger!!

MY VERY FIRST BLOG AND ITS ON A NBC SITE! ::In my Wendy Williams Voice::"How you doin?!"
I was just sitting there; a moderately attractive comedian wearing exercise clothes many would argue are two sizes too small for me. A normal Tuesday really. When I received the email that changed everything! I was asked by NBC Universal to document the next year of my life since performing in the NBC Stand Up for Diversity Showcase!
The news brought me much joy. Rhetorical Question: If a grown black man jumped up and down in his bedroom, giggling like a sinister catholic school girl, BUT no one was there to see it... did it ever really happen?
After I calmed myself and realized they wanted my first entry by the next day, I realized something important. I actually have to do something with my life or I'll have no progress to write about. I'd just post random essays on controversial topics like "The Real Housewives" and "was that shirt I wore last week indeed cute; or did that guy just say that so I'd go away?" Even though these issues are important/ incredibly interesting, I'd prefer to update everyone with insanely awesome news of my conquering of 2012! I hear this is our last year so I'm trying to go out on top!
I've just returned from Miami where I surprised my parents by flying home on Christmas Eve. They were definitely happy to see me, and as surprised as West Indian parents get (my dad didn't get off the couch...)
It was nice to see them and hear some good advice on the future. It's the first time my dad sounded like he believed I could succeed in this comedy business. He also once believed I'd be good at pee-wee football though :-/
My dad said he thought I'd succeed faster if i stopped talking to people about what I'm doing and what might happen all the time. Ironically, I'm really superstitious and I think the same thing. Like I'm jinxing myself or piling on unnecessary pressure somehow. But I feel like I'm always talking to everybody about every new thing that happens to me with this comedy career, because they ask me WHAT'S GOING ON WITH YOUR COMEDY CAREER?!
I guess this blog will be a good middle ground. I'll give a nice monthly update on all things Raneir and between such updates, I'll just try to work my butt off and shut up about it in the process.
It's early January and I have received more show invites in the last 2 days than ever in such a span of time... 3!!! ...Its a start people, stop judging me... I'm competing in Uncle Clydes Comedy Competition at Flappers next week and perform in my first APLA Fundraiser the week after. Wish me luck ya'll!!!
Stop in at my facebook fanpage for all my upcoming show information Facebook.com/BLACKandGAYAllDay or follow me on twitter @Raneirsthebest for daily updates! :-) See ya next month!
