His job consists of working closely with the stations, affiliates, network sales, digital media and special events in order to ensure the maximum level of exposure for the network, sports, news and novela talent.

Raul Xumalin was born and raised in Mexico City and is a graduate of Anahuac University, where he received a degree in Business Administration.  He also earned certificates and diplomas in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations from Rice University and the University of Houston among others.

Raul’s career started during his first semester in college as an editor for the University’s in-house magazine.  His passion for Advertising drove him to one pf the most prestigious publicity agencies in Mexico, Publicidad Ferrer.  During his last two years in college, he held a position in the Promotions department of Pepsi in Mexico, where he was in charge of the planning, logistics and implementation of several successful promotional campaigns nationwide.

After graduation, he served as Regional Accounts Supervisor for Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi. Two years later he was hired at BMG Entertainment as Label Manager for the Latin division and then established his first company, Mercadotecnica y Creatividad Artística, offering consulting services in marketing to varied clients in the entertainment arena, such as: BMG, Sony Music and Fonovisa, as well as music event production companies.

Raul has been the manager behind the careers of some of the most up and coming, successful young novela stars from Mexico including, Jacqueline Bracamontes, Aaron Diaz, Mauricio Ochmann, Mauricio Islas, and  Sebastian Rulli.  His knowledge of the Latin entertainment industry and his background in marketing also made him a favorite among several companies, such as Procter & Gamble, L’Oreal and Pepsi, for which he developed strategic and innovative marketing strategies based on entertainment.

In 2005 Raul was approached by Telemundo and offered the opportunity to relocate to Miami in the position that he currently holds.  In Raul’s own words “I fell in love with Telemundo from the first approach. I was fascinated by its values, the people and the challenge it represented.  The timing and circumstances were perfect and I didn’t think about it twice.  I can now say that this was the best professional decision of my life.”

Raul Xumalin lives in Miami with his wife Monica and their two children.

Dear Talent Diversity Supporters,

I am pleased to announce that Kendra Carter has joined us here at NBC Universal as my new Director of Talent Diversity succeeding Damona Resnick who, I'm proud to say, accepted a position at NBCU's Sci-Fi Network. Kendra will supervise, develop and produce the dozens of talent diversity initiatives we currently have in the pipeline including our Standup for Diversity nationwide talent search, our Comedy Shortcuts short film festival, various talent scholarships, talent showcases, open calls for diverse talent, our monthly DiverseCity NBC newsletter, and many other programs currently in development. She will also be responsible for tracking our success, as well as shining a light on our shortcomings, in placing diverse talent in front of the camera in both our current series and pilot casting. Most importantly, she will continue to help expand the pipeline for the talent we identify through our various initiatives and find opportunities for them on our NBC Universal television series.

Kendra most recently had been working as a casting and talent development executive at Spike TV for the past four years. During her time at Spike TV she served as a member of the Nickelodeon Network's West Coast Diversity Team for two years. She began her career as a casting assistant for several high profile casting directors here in Los Angeles in both film and television.

She will be assisted by Tracette Hillman, who will continue working on diversity projects alongside Kendra. Kendra and Tracette make a terrific team and I'm thrilled to have them spearheading this important program.

Many thanks,

Marc Hirschfeld
Executive Vice-President, Casting
NBC Universal Television Entertainment
